Moving beyond the dawn: Swash’s daybreak

It’s time to enter a new chapter in Swash’s story.

With a suite of products now available and in use, an ever-expanding community of people joining the Swash movement, and advancements across data policy in the EU and abroad, it’s clear that Swash has made its mark on the data and Web 3 space as a pioneer and leading innovator.

As the team now transition into core contributor roles, a new era of evergreen, decentralised collaboration is beginning. Looking ahead, there's promise of new ways to earn being added to Swash everyday, and a growing number of partners and stakeholders, all contributing to Swash's growth.

Swash and its movement of loyal community members have achieved some incredible milestones together over the years. From conceptualising and bringing to life groundbreaking products that are already disrupting and setting new standards for the data sector, to being at the forefront of conversations around the future of the digital economy, Swash’s successes wouldn’t be possible without the support of you - the Swash users!

Now, on the cusp of this new era, it’s clear that Swash’s biggest adventures are yet to come. It’s important that you, Swash’s members, know how much of an impact you have had (and will continue to have) on Swash and everything it stands for. It’s also why Swash’s future will be even more in your hands, as part of a dedicated network of collaborators united by a common vision. Keep reading for details on what that means for you.

Roadmap

Years of effort and collaboration have resulted in the realisation of every goal outlined in the roadmap and whitepaper, with some additional successes along the way.

The roadmap - set out in the whitepaper that was released in the ye olden days of Q220 - set out where Swash wanted to be within the next few years. With the original roadmap delivered and then some, it’s time to take a moment to celebrate and to look at what’s coming next.

The inception, development and launch of each product within the Swash Solutions stack brought more success and reach for Swash and its overall impact. From advertisers to data scientists, to charities and entrepreneurs, each element of Swash’s ecosystem is designed to enable stakeholders of all shapes and sizes to take part in the movement and, as a result, launch forward towards a more equitable (and frankly, more exciting) future for all. 

Since its nascency, Swash’s architecture has been designed to keep the token healthy and the ecosystem sustainable. This is made possible by allocating revenue to several key areas:

  • Expanding the Swash user base and propelling market growth 
  • Converting to the SWASH token to automatically store in the vault
  • Fuelling growth and development to keep Swash in tip-top condition. 

With each product now live and thriving, the Swash ecosystem is now a self-sufficient and well-oiled machine. The next step is to keep scaling and bringing new people in, which is where you - the community - come in.

Word of mouth is the most powerful way to build a user base. If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll be familiar with the various referral campaigns held by Swash to encourage the existing members to share Swash with their friends. In future, there will be 3 types of referral campaigns for you to engage with, rewarding you for doing your part to grow the ecosystem. Regulation 

Over the years, Swash has been noticed for its role as a leading data intermediary (aka ‘data trust’ or ‘data union’) by the likes of The ODI, the Aapti Institute and, most recently, the EU Commission. This, combined with Swash’s membership with the Data & Marketing Association (DMA) and the Federation of European Data & Marketing (FEDMA) enables Swash to be at the table alongside policy makers as a living example of what the future looks like. 

Alongside major product launches, Swash’s privacy policy has had an update - you can check it out here. As well as making sure all data captured is clear (including that of the upcoming mobile app..!), the purpose of this update is to make Swash’s privacy policy even more transparent and easier to digest. Instead of shying away from privacy and data discussions, Swash is here to set an example of how it should be done, not hiding behind fluffy and confusing jargon. 

DAO

The launch of the Swash DAO in Q12023 was the first step in pushing Swash towards decentralisation, making it possible for the Swash community to propose and vote on new ideas and developments for the Swash ecosystem.

Moving forward, the Swash DAO will take even more of a leading role in how Swash evolves. Alongside the opportunity to propose and vote on new ideas, the Swash community will also be able to get involved in building. As code contributors, trusted developers within the community will be empowered to bring their ideas into fruition with the support of the entire Swash ecosystem.

To ensure that Swash can support the rising number of users, the Help Center was implemented to provide clear answers to common questions, personalised responses via a ticketing system, and tailored chatbots for each Swash product. Full of hundreds of FAQs addressing everything you need to know about Swash, it’s a readily available and frequently updated resource to tap into when you’ve got a question or when you’re welcoming and supporting new Swash members. 

As well as being more efficient and easier to use, the Help Center was created in response to common problems that are typical on social platforms like Telegram and Discord. However, not unique to Swash, these barriers include the prevalence of bots and scam messages, the complicated search and ticket support options, and the need for users to have an account from which to request support.

Although Swash's official Telegram and Discord channels will remain in place for the community, for discussions around DAO proposals, and to provide a space for everyone to have their say, things will be more streamlined and automated. As Swash’s products will be live and scaling, there may be less prominent updates moving forward. This doesn’t mean Swash is slowing down - in fact, things will be speeding up as focus will be on scaling up the entire ecosystem. Exciting stuff!

This transformation marks another step towards decentralisation, making it possible for Swash to evolve into the people-powered movement it always aimed to be. The existing team members will continue as core community members and trusted contributors, and will remain dedicated to propelling Swash forward and realising the vision set out in Swash’s nascency.

As if the updated Swash Earn wasn’t enough (pssst - leaderboard and gift card withdrawals will be launching very soon) next up for Swash is the release of the Swash mobile app! 

The final touches are being added to make it suitable for mobile and for cross-device functionality between the web app and mobile. All of this will be made possible by Swash’s V3 update, which will solve all of the questions and feedback shared by the community to date, plus improving UI, bugs, and a few other awesome new features.
