Swash and Permission.io announce digital advertising partnership

Web 3 projects, Swash and Permission.io, are providing novel approaches to brand engagement as marketers come to terms with consumer data legislation and cookie degradation. Stakes are high in the data-hungry $571 billion global digital ad industry.

Permission has created Permission Ads, an industry-first crypto rewards demand-side platform (DSP) where advertisers can run campaigns through the open web and reward consumers with ASK for opting in and consenting to share their data.

Swash is the first and largest Web3 Data Union — an opt-in audience panel that allows users to earn from their data. As part of the larger movement towards a consumer-based internet, the Swash app allows consumers to share anonymous browser behaviour in a privacy-compliant setting.

Web 3 projects borrow a page from legacy programmatic playbook

Programmatic advertising technology (ad tech) platforms such as demand-side platforms (DSPs) and audience data platforms are vital tools for businesses to activate, analyse and optimise digital media investments.

In this vein, the Permission Ads DSP sets campaign parameters such as creative formats and audience targeting. Meanwhile, the Swash Data Union provides access to audiences based on browsing behaviour and self-declared data.

“The Permission-Swash alliance borrows a page from the legacy ad tech DSP-audience platform playbook. The key difference is consumers have agency and ownership of the data being transacted upon.”

- Seth Ulinski, Swash Ecosystem and Growth.

“With the rise of Web 3.0, it’s more important than ever for like-minded projects to collaborate and further transparency in the new front of the data economy. We look forward to developing these strategic partnerships and enabling consumers globally to take back control and monetise their personal information.”

- Charlie Silver, CEO of Permission.io.

Ask consumers and they will go full sails in Web 3

Permission.io users agree to viewing brand messaging via its ad platform, in exchange for its native token ($ASK). Meanwhile, Swashbucklers who install the web-based Swash app agree to share anonymised surfing data in exchange for its native token ($SWASH). Users can run the platforms together or independently as they dictate the terms of how and when they engage with brands and share data.

“While business use cases are logical conversation starters, the shared values of Swash and Permission is what ultimately forged this alliance. The Swash community can chart new courses with regards to monetising their digital behaviour as the two projects grow and explore commercial opportunities.”

- Reza Naeeni, co-founder of Swash.

Swash and Permission.io are audience platforms built on the ethos of transparency, privacy and ownership. As construction of Web3 accelerates, permission-based ad tech alliances provide next-gen brand engagement infrastructure.
