Outlier Ventures is an early-stage accelerator that works to jumpstart the rise and adoption of decentralised technologies and the innovators driving it forward. Their portfolio boasts big names, including Brave, Chainlink, DIA, Ocean Protocol, and

Swash joined the Outlier Ventures portfolio as part of the Base Camp program in summer 2020. As part of the accelerator, Swash joined a panel on The Role of Data Unions at Diffusion Digital with other experts in the data space, shedding light on the impact of Web 3.0 solutions for the open data economy.

Outlier Ventures continue to support Swash through networking, partnerships, and promotions.


Streamr is a decentralised platform for real-time data. Streamr’s technology enables the creation of Data Unions — organised structures that optimise individual agency as a collective force by rewarding union members for the value of their data.

Inspired by their vision to make easy data monetisation possible, the Swash team built the first living Data Union back in 2019 as a technical experiment. It has since grown into one of the largest dapps with over 60,000 installs at the time of writing, making it the first and largest Data Union in existence.

As Swash evolves, it will continue to utilise the Streamr network as the integration layer and the Streamr marketplace will be where Swash stream data is sold. The team is also pleased to have Streamr Founder, Henri Pihkala, on the advisory board.

Chainlink is a decentralised oracle network that connects smart contracts to real-world data existing outside their native blockchains. As one of the leaders in the space known for handling billions worth of on-chain value, they have partnered with the likes of Google Cloud, Binance, and Ethereum.

Swash integrated with Chainlink to make proportional revenue distribution and easy withdrawals for its members a reality.

Ocean Protocol

Ocean Protocol is an open-source protocol that allows businesses and individuals to exchange and monetise data and data-based services. It empowers people to publish and consume data while retaining their privacy and transparency.

Swash joined Ocean as a Day 1 Data Launch Partner of the Ocean Market. Ocean Market enables users to add liquidity to pools, and to buy, sell, or publish data. Also, as part of the Ocean Shipyard program, Swash received a funding grant plus marketing and product development support from the Ocean team.

Moving forward, the Ocean x Swash collaboration will be enhanced by the integration of Compute-to-Data with sCompute and the addition of Bruce Pon, Ocean Protocol Founder, as an advisor to the team.


Swash, the world’s first and largest Data Union, is pleased to announce an integration with the Filecoin network, a decentralised storage network designed to store humanity’s most important information. With this integration, Swash will leverage Estuary, a solution that allows developers to easily upload data to Filecoin, to integrate decentralised storage for preserving Swash users’ web browser activity. With users’ data stored on a decentralised network, this integration will provide users with greater ownership over their personal browsing data.

With over 100 billion internet-connected machines expected by 2030, McKinsey estimates that machines will outnumber humans by 10:1 and generate up to $12.6 trillion in economic value. Big Data Protocol

Big Data Protocol is a DeFi protocol and data marketplace to source commercially valuable data from professional data providers, tokenise it, and make it liquid.

Big data is a highly valuable but illiquid asset. The Protocol tokenises commercially valuable data through a network of 19K+ professional data providers and makes the data token liquid on Uniswap. Users earn data by providing liquidity to data tokens.

BDP leverages the data providers and consumers of Amass Insights, the leading platform for alternative data.

Swash partnered with Big Data Protocol Data (BDP) to enable funds, corporates, and retail traders to access a consistent panel of high-quality web-traffic data without down-stream risks.


Adshares (ADS) is the most advanced blockchain-based project in the advertising market, whose decentralised ecosystem connects publishers and advertisers directly.

Swash will work with Adshares to bring high quality, relevant ads to Swash users. Swash members will be able to see ads and get rewarded for doing so with the integration of Adshares into the Swash ecosystem.

While Swash users will receive earnings for their ad attention, advertisers will be able to target a new audience of fully opted-in, enthusiastic people who receive ads fuelled by Swash’s data.

To bring further value to the Swash user base, the ads (sAds) feature will enable Swash members to be rewarded for receiving ads. The ads — fuelled by Swash’s zero-party data — will give members another way to earn Swash tokens as they surf the web.

Permission has created Permission Ads, an industry-first crypto rewards demand-side platform (DSP) where advertisers can run campaigns through the open web and reward consumers with ASK for opting in and consenting to share their data. users agree to viewing brand messaging via its ad platform, in exchange for its native token ($ASK). Meanwhile, Swashbucklers who install the web-based Swash app agree to share anonymised surfing data in exchange for its native token ($SWASH). Users can run the platforms together or independently as they dictate the terms of how and when they engage with brands and share data.

DataHive DAO

DataHive DAO, a San Francisco / Vancouver-based company has been working extensively with tier 1 partners to build a one-of-a-kind decentralised-data-as-a-service (dDaaS) analytics platform for businesses with a pipeline of 30+ tier 1 enterprises Now, by joining forces and integrating with Swash as an extended part of the team, we are preparing to launch the sIntelligence platform as a joint product release in Q1 2023.

By forming this alliance, Swash and DataHive DAO aim to form a gold standard for zero-party data-based marketing and advertising. As a result of our partnership, we will unite our users, resources, clients, and marketing efforts to see an accelerated rollout across more markets with a complete, comprehensive offering for our users and customers.

Boson Protocol is aiming to enable a decentralised commerce ecosystem by funding and accelerating the development of a stack of specialist applications to disrupt, unbundle and democratise commerce.

Swash partnered with Boson Protocol’s NiftyKey solution to offer the community the chance to participate in the NFT economy by converting their data earnings into ‘NFT commitment tokens.’ These commitment tokens can later be transferred in and out of non-custodial wallets or converted to physical products and services, amplifying the value opportunities for Swash members.

Data Privacy Protocol Alliance (DPPA)

The Data Privacy Protocol Alliance is working with data providers and aggregators to shape new policies and common frameworks around the information economy. The rise in the importance of data is undeniable, but there is a skewed power dynamic between those who control it and those who create it.

Beyond remuneration, the future of data passes through an allied effort to offset imbalances in structures, clarify regulations, and offer easy and customisable solutions for individuals to regain ownership.

Swash is a founding member of the DDPA, joining a variety of data providers and enthusiasts. The DPPA brings together big names in the data privacy space, including Swash advisor Gilbert Hill, Brittney Kaiser’s Own Your Data Foundation, Big Token, Tapmydata, Casper, and many more.

World Ethical Data Foundation (WEDF)

The World Ethical Data Foundation unites key thinkers to debate the future of data and how to overcome pressing challenges over governance, distribution, and compensation.

Swash participated at WEDF in 2021, discussing human-centric models for accessing, distributing, and managing personal data, while looking at the role of crypto and blockchain technology as the agent for increased decentralisation and redistribution.
